On May 28, 1960, 7 seniors played in the state finals against two time defending state champions Cheyenne Mountain. After leading 2-0 in the seventh inning, we lost 10-3. AHS had never advanced to the championship game prior to or since.

DG on the 1957 AHS Football Team. Honored to have played on that team with "Boogie", Dale Pruett, Bert Swift, "Biner", Don Tomberlin, Dale Wiescamp, Jerry Ward, Larry Fujimoto.
One of six sophomores to letter that year along with Frank Martinez, Art Alsbaugh, John Phillips, Hugh Hiatt and Eddie Esquibel.
How we didn't win the state championship that year is beyond me. The '59 team came very, very close losing to Paonia in the semi finals.
