DG Little League Pitcher age 10. At age 12, Terry and I played against Nick Wilhite at Pueblo's Runyan Field at the Colorado State Tournament. Nick later was a team mate of Sandy Koufax of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On May 28, 1960, 7 seniors played in the state finals against two time defending state champions Cheyenne Mountain. After leading 2-0 in the seventh inning, we lost 10-3. AHS had never advanced
to the championship game prior to or since.

Success due to the outstanding play of seven
seniors on our 1960 District and Regional Championship Team. Terry, James, Duane, Eddie, Pat and Adolph.

I continued to play baseball at ASC.

DG age 11. Ecstatic to get Billy Martin's autograph in 1954, one year after Billy had
won the Most Valuable Player Award in the
1953 World Series as a member of the New York Yankees. Billy was in Alamosa to play ASC while in military service in CS.

DG on the 1957 AHS Football Team. Honored to have played on that team with "Boogie",
Dale Pruett, Bert Swift, "Biner", Don Tomberlin, Dale Wiescamp, Jerry Ward, Larry
Fujimoto.

One of six sophomores to letter that year along with Frank Martinez, Art Alsbaugh, John Phillips, Hugh Hiatt and Eddie Esquibel.

How we didn't win the state championship that year is beyond me. The '59 team came very, very close losing to Paonia in the semi finals.

DG on the 1960 Adams State College Freshman Basketball Team. AHS standouts, Duane Roberts and Lloyd Koonce were also on this team. Duane and Lloyd selected to the All
State team.

Former Heavyweight Champion, Mike Tyson and
5 Time World Champion, Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran. Roberto often referred to my dad as "Mi Compadre de Colorado." My dad and I saw Roberto fight many, many times.
