DG Little League Pitcher age 10. At age 12, Terry and I played against Nick Wilhite at Pueblo's Runyan Field at the Colorado State Tournament. Nick later was a team mate of Sandy Koufax of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
On May 28, 1960, 7 seniors played in the state finals against two time defending state champions Cheyenne Mountain. After leading 2-0 in the seventh inning, we lost 10-3. AHS had never advanced
to the championship game prior to or since.
My beautiful wife of 45 years, Anita, and my
heart and soul sons, David, Jr. and Ryan. Anita retired from the Adams Co. School District and has been subbing at the Colorado Adademy. Chris Babbs from East High School was the Head Master at CA until last year. Chris set a number of records at the State Track Meet in 1960.
I continue to assist small business owners in their efforts to access negotiated federal contracts.
My son David graduated from CU and my son Ryan started at CU and finished his formal education at Colorado Aero Tech. Both live in the Denver Metro Area.

I continued to play baseball at ASC.
DG age 11. Extatic to get Billy Martin's autograph in 1954, one year after Billy had
won the Most Valuable Player Award in the
1953 World Series as a member of the New York Yankees. Billy was in Alamosa to play ASC while in military service in CS.
DG on the 1957 AHS Football Team. Honored to have played on that team with "Boogie",
Dale Pruett, Bert Swift, "Biner", Don Tomberlin, Dale Wiescamp, Jerry Ward.
One of six sophomores to letter that year along with Frank Martinez, Art Alsbaugh, John Phillips, Hugh Hiatt and Eddie Esquibel.
How we didn't win the state championship that year is beyond me. The '59 team came very, very close.
DG on the 1960 Adams State College Freshman Basketball Team. AHS standouts, Duane Roberts and Lloyd Koonce were also on this team.
DG with Ron Lyle and Sam Boardman. Ron was
a top ranked heavyweight having fought Mohammed Ali for the Heavyweight Championship of the World and nearly stopping George Foreman in one of the top 10 fights in boxing history.

5 Time World Champion, Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran. Roberto often referred to my dad as "Mi Compadre de Colorado."

DG, Prom Night 1960 with the beautiful Eva Adams, an Yvette Mimieux look-a-like. Eva
attended my graduation and traveled with my dad to our Regional Finals game at Craig, which we won 13-3.

"I would travel 1000 miles to see a good fight."
Over 3,000 fans in attendence including a number of major league scouts.
We won 9 straight games going into the championship with Cheyenne Mountain.

Wendell's wife, Donna, was my assistant at Denver Youth Services, a Community Action Agency.
In the football season of 1959, we played Farmington High School. Ralph was a dominant lineman on that team, went on to All American
Honors at Oklahoma and then on to All Pro recognition with the Dallas Cowboys. In an otherwise outstanding year for our '59 team, Farmington beat us 25-0. Eddie Belt, QB on their team was later the starting QB at CSU.

It was nice talking with you the other day. We do have a great class with many accomplished classmates. Your tributes to Joe Vigil are greatly deserved. And all of your photos are great to look at. I am glad you were able to up load all of them. Jana and I are really looking forward to seeing you and anita at the reunion. A great time is in store for all of us. Jana and i will add Joe vigils statue dedication to our calendar. I talked to Frank Newton and he may try to come down from Denver.
You've gone a LONG WAY, mate. Looks like you have spent a lifetime with the "great and good". Guess that makes you one, too!!. Nice to see the pix and to read of the success of classmates, no matter which path they have taken!
