So long to Timoteo "Tim" James Rivera. . .

Timoteo James Rivera Jr., a devoted father, grandfather, educator, and man of faith, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, at the age of 84.

He was born on July 15, 1941, in Los Sauces, Colorado, where his life began rooted in

family, tradition, and strong values. A former resident of the San Luis Valley, Tim carried

those values with him throughout his life, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Timoteo dedicated much of his professional life to education, serving as a respected professor at the Community College of Denver. He was deeply committed to his students and took great pride in sharing his knowledge, believing strongly in the power of education to transform lives.

Outside of his career, Timoteo was a man of many passions. He found joy in working on properties, building and investing in real estate, and pursuing business ventures, including the restaurant industry. He loved reading and traveling, always seeking new knowledge and experiences. Above all, he cherished his time with God, valued his health, and held his family close to his heart.

Timoteo is survived by his loving daughters: Gloria Rivera of Alamosa; Christina Rivera of Denver; and Monica Duran of Albuquerque. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy in his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Timoteo Rivera and Bertina Espinoza Rivera; his sisters, Esther Ulibarri and Carol Chacon; his brothers, Levi Rivera, Orlando Rivera, and Gilbert Rivera; and his beloved grandchildren, Joshua Rivera and Jacob Martinez Garduño.

A funeral service honoring Timoteo’s life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at River of Life Church, located at 2602 Clark Street, Alamosa. Interment will follow at Los Sauces Cemetery in Colorado.

Timoteo will be remembered for his wisdom, strength, unwavering faith, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched as a      teacher, mentor, and devoted patriarch.
